The Resource and Advocacy (R&A) Unit was established in March 2004 through a grant from the Arizona Rehabilitation Services Administration.
Members build their leadership skills while co-facilitating unit meetings, leading writing groups, designing and editing the Clubhouse newsletter and conduct daily outreach to other members. The R&A Unit also provides structure for those Clubhouse members with gifts of compassion who want to learn and practice advocacy skills by helping other members with their challenges and barriers. Some of these specific tasks include assisting other members with:
- benefits counseling
- landlord and tenant issues
- business/financial management
- filing tax returns
- case management advocacy
The R&A Unit also offers a Peer Mentor Supported Education curriculum to learn, build and apply those skills within the structure of the clubhouse. Call 520-884-5553 to enroll in our Peer Support course.
